DESCRIPTION:Jammin' on the James\n October 17-19\, 2008\n Richmond\, Va\n \n This year (our sixth) we offer something familiar and something new. The familiar is that we have the return of Naomi Uyama and Mike Faltesek as instructors. The new is that this year we are excited to welcome for the first time Nina Gilkenson and Peter Strom! All four will team up to teach our intermediate and beginner tracks. That's right\, we have the return of the beginner track for the those new to lindy and those who may still be unsure if they're ready to move to an intermediate level class. In an effort to let the beginners absorb as much as possible\, we're keeping the class sizes small and only having two classes each day. And the beginners will benefit from the instruction of the same world class instructors who are teaching the intermediate classes!\n \n Once again we are putting the focus on our local musical talent at our dances. Jammin' favorites\, Gypsy Roots (Hot Club of France-style hot jazz) make a return appearance as does Swiss Swank Account\, although this year we're going with a small group (sextet) version as a change of pace. And of course we wrap up the weekend with the trad jazz sounds of the Doctors of Jazz. Plus the popular late night dances with quality DJs (TBA)\, free refreshments to keep you going\, and some downright nice and friendly dancers from all over!\n \n The weekend schedule and instructor bios are up on the website. Workshop descriptions will be posted soon and registration will open sometime in late August. Please save the date and join us!\n \n Questions? DESCRIPTION:The eighth annual Melbourne Lindy Exchange will be on again this year 27-30 November 2008. That's a little later in the year to accommodate the uni folk's exams.\n \n Once again\, we've managed to bully some new kids into taking on the organisation of MLX\, but it seems they're staging a coup. Or perhaps that should be an all-out attack. MLX8 will be extra big\, extra fun and extra scary.\n \n This year the Melbourne Lindy Exchange is inspired by the creepiest classic monster films of the golden age of cinema. We're reanimating the best bits of the swing era with some of the swingingest bands and DJs Australia can offer.\n Join us in Melbourne in November for:\n MLX8: Exchange of the Living Dead\n \n What can you expect from MLX8?\n \n More badass dancing (because you can't keep a good lindy hopper down - in their grave\, that is!)\,\n \n more wicked music (because the dead can dance)\n \n the very best DJs we can find (because some band leaders just won't stay dead)\n \n lots of real\, live bands (killer-dillers\, in fact)\n \n 2 rooms in the witching hours (because it's all fun and games...until the sun comes up)\n \n extremely slow dancing (he's not dead - he's just blues dancing!)\n \n extremely fast dancing (Hades will be a poppin'\, we're sure)\n \n ...and the sorts of daytime shuffling that would make a zombie seem spry...\n \n \n \n \n We only have a placeholder website up right now\, but soon you'll be able to check out the finer (more frightening) details at:www.mlx8.com.\n \n MLX8: Where no one goes home... alive
