CX'03 Registration is now open!!!

CX2003 Schedule of Events: Sept. 19-21, 2003

Friday evening (8:00pm until midnight): The Dukes of Wail at Bohemian National Hall

The Dukes of Wail have been one of Cleveland's favorite dance bands since they formed in 1998. At one time the Dukes were the Wednesday night house band at Diamond Back Brewery's weekly swing night, during the peak of the swing revival in the late 90s. They are as well known for their upbeat jump blues and swing numbers as much as they are for their groovier classics of Duke Ellington and Frank Sinatra? At the front of this ensemble croons Cleveland's own answer to Dean Martin. Dennis DeSapri [vocalist] has been winning over audiences since his teens, when he backed up the likes of Chubby Checker. One of Dennis' fondest memories is sharing the stage with the great Sam Butera at the Milwaukee Italian Festival in 1995.

This seven piece band hosts many veterans of the local Jazz/Rhythm and Blues music scene. All are in demand musicians who have received numerous awards both from the Jazz community and their Cleveland fans.

Bohemian National Hall, 4939 Broadway Ave., Cleveland OH 44127 ph: 216.883.0675

Friday late night (1 o'clock a.m. until.....?): Lindy-Bowl-Late-Nite at Mahall's Twenty Lanes

Ok, SOOO many people had a blast last year at this venue, we're bringing it back!! What's more Cleveland than a vintage 1950s era bowling alley? Check out the neon bowling pin and marquee out front and classic ball returns...with plenty of room to get yer late-night groove on, RKP and our many guests will be throwin' down a superb mix of swing, groove, and whatever else in the various rooms at this venue (the Blues Room will be, uh, groooovin') ...don't miss the opportunity for bowling, billiards, vintage clothes, and gaming, too! THIS YEAR, BOWLING AND BILLIARDS ARE INCLUDED IN YOUR WEEKEND PASS!!!! $10 entrance fee for non-weekend-pass holders (also includes bowling and billiards). Food will be available for a minimum charge.

Mahall's Twenty Lanes, 13200 Madison Ave., Lakewood OH 44107 ph: 216.521.3280

Saturday afternoon: TBA

Saturday evening (8 o'clock): Ernie Krivda and The Fat Tuesday Big Band

On Saturday evening, Ernie Krivda and the Fat Tuesday Big Band take the stage at our main event in Cleveland's very own "castle" - Grays Armory. In May 1893, the Cleveland Grays laid the cornerstone for their armory. Sporting a 10,000 sq ft floor, Grays has hosted such events as military balls, Cleveland's first auto show on Feb. 1, 1903, and concerts featuring John Philip Sousa, the Cleveland Orchestra, and George Gee and his Jump, Jive and Wailer's. The gorgeous front lobby and spacious wood floor provide the perfect Saturday evening venue for the midwest's permier big band. Whether in concert or playing swinging dance music, Ernie Krivda and The Fat Tuesday Big Band are one of the most exciting and engaging musical acts to hit the scene in recent memory. Combining the musical values of the great "big bands of yesterday" with the dramatic energy of a new century, the 18-piece "band that swings" turns each performance into an unforgettable event.

Grays Armory, 1234 Bolivar Rd., Cleveland OH 44115 ph: 216.621.5938

Saturday late night: TBA

Saturday Late Late night (hey, Don O., how about it?)

Sunday afternoon: TBA

Sunday evening: TBA

I spun at this event last year and it was rad. I would love to come back to spin. Either way, I highly recommend going to this.

I might seriously consider this. I have some vacation time coming this fall and also have friends in Ohio and the rest of the East Coast I'd love to see. Sounds like fun.

I was so hoping for special effects. It would be so cool to put some fast flying Lindy in there. Where are the flying kicks and "bullet-time" sequences?

Do you want me to put some in? Smile
