Level

This is an Intermediate class.

Dancer should have a few months experience and be comfortable with the basics at medium tempos (up to 185bpm). Tuck turns, sugar pushes, basic charleston, footwork variations, and swingouts should all be familiar to you while you learn to integrate 6 and 8 count patterns. The trust relationship between partner's connection is dawning on you.

Kelli Wilkerson

Kelli has been dancing Lindy Hop since early 1998 and has been competing and teaching for 8 of those years. She has placed and won many national titles in many esteemed competitions such as The American Lindy Hop Championships, Ultimate Lindy Hop Showdown, Camp Hollywood/National Jitterbug Competition, Swing by the Sea, Jitterbug Jam, Triple Crown Los Angeles, and many more. She has also taught workshops and lessons at many of the above named competitions and also in places such as San Francisco CA, Los Angeles Ca, Minneapolis Mn, Madison WI, Nashville TN, Portland OR, Stamford CN, Pasadena Ca, Davis and Sacramento CA.

Jason Zabinski

Jason has performed and taught from Harlem to California. He began dancing Lindy Hop in 1998 and has been teaching since 1999. Jason has been dancing Lindy Hop since 1998, and teaching on and off since 1999. As a teacher he brings his enthusiasm and joy of movement to his students. Jason's style is based on using strong lead and follow technique to connect with his partner and the music. He has an extensive knowledge of the dance and its history that he uses to preserve the wild excitement and energy of Swing in his dancing.

Registration

Registrations are your payment. The workshops vary in price, length, level, and attendance. You may pay at the door for any event, but preregistration is greatly appreciated. You may pay/register either by check, cash, or paypal (which includes credit card).

Early payment is greatly appreciated.

The series is 60$ and each individual class is offered at 15$ per class at the door. Contact Shawn, information below, to purchase individual classes in advance or to mail a check as payment.

Even though we haven't had the first class yet, the 'Post' room on 2nd floor will be available for practice from 9 to 10pm. Come prepared with at least one person you can work with or else be content to work on solo material. Bring your favorite CDs too.

Monday, March 10th
Connection Through the Body Monday, March 10th, 900p-1000p
We will go over fundamental techniques for a lead and follow to dance more with their body. By doing so they will connect to each other and the music much easier.

Al and Leon's Shim Sham Monday, March 24th, 900p-1000p
We'll learn Al Minns and Leon James version of the Shim Sham.

Swivels for the follows and classic style for the leads. Both leads and follows will study lines and presentation while dancing.

Lindy Charleston Monday, April 14th, 900p-1000p
Better Charleston technique allows for easier leading and following. Basic (good) footwork couple with lead and follow variations of partnered Charleston in Lindy Hop. (May cover Side by Side, Tandem, Crossover, and/or more.)
