Level

This is an Novice and Intermediate class.

Basic understanding of beginner concepts and moves such as a swingout or charleston kick required. Dancer should have a few months experience and be comfortable with the basics at medium tempos (up to 185bpm). Tuck turns, sugar pushes, basic charleston, footwork variations, and swingouts should all be familiar to you while you learn to integrate 6 and 8 count patterns. The trust relationship between partner's connection is dawning on you.

Stacia Martin

Stacia wants you to know that she is a dancer because it makes her heart sing. She began dancing in Tampa in 2001 and has been spellbound ever since. She has performed at various events in Florida, at the Oakland Swing Dance Festival and most recently at the Ultimate Lindy Hop Showdown. She has been known to compete on occasion, but is most passionate about the thrill of social dancing and sweating and the magical glittery joy that it produces. In her teaching, she'll admit that her first love is to focus on the intangible and elusive art of connection and plain ol' leading/following.

Jason Zabinski

Jason has performed and taught from Harlem to California. He began dancing Lindy Hop in 1998 and has been teaching since 1999. Jason has been dancing Lindy Hop since 1998, and teaching on and off since 1999. As a teacher he brings his enthusiasm and joy of movement to his students. Jason's style is based on using strong lead and follow technique to connect with his partner and the music. He has an extensive knowledge of the dance and its history that he uses to preserve the wild excitement and energy of Swing in his dancing.

Class Descriptions

Monday, October 13th
Hot Cross Buns Monday, October 13th, 800p-900p
In this series, we'll be refining your basics. For the first week, we're going to focus on proper connection. Whether you're a beginner or more advanced and looking to clean up your dancing, we'll take it back to basics and shine everything up. Learning how to communicate and connect with your partner is key to everything else in Lindy Hop!

Monday, October 20th
Chopsticks Monday, October 20th, 800p-900p
This class will be like a tune-up for your building blocks. Remember learning swing-outs and simple turns from your friend who had been dancing slightly longer than you? (I do!) Let's re-learn them, ironing out any hiccups you may have learned along your dance journey.

Monday, October 27th
Silent Night Monday, October 27th, 800p-900p
If you played an instrument in school, you remember the Christmas Medley! You got to put together a lot of recognizable songs and perform them for your parents. (Awesome!!) This class is similar, in that we're gonna take what you learned in the first 2 classes in October and build some new but still basic ideas surrounding making lines and circles in your dancing. (And no pressure to perform for your family this time. ;-) )
